April 2007

Spring has well and truly arrived and with the clock change came the best spell of weather so far this year. It is time to finalise many of the plans that we have been making over these past few months so please take note of all of the dates relevant to you or your section, especially with regard to camp deadlines, etc. Scouting activities are ramping up and April and May both promise to be busy as we approach our camping season. This is what the ‘out’ in Scouting is all about. Let’s get our charges outside into the fresh air as much as possible and enjoy the many opportunities for fun together with the numerous activities being organised for us.

St George's Day Parade 2007

Details of the parade can be found on the Lisburn District website (www.lisburndistrictscouts.org.uk). This should give the latest and hopefully final arrangements. I know we are breaking up now for Easter but on your return please do encourage as many as possible to attend this special event. We should aim to arrive at Wallace High School for 2.00pm to give us time to assemble in order and then walk the short distance to Wallace Park. The main parade will form-up at 2.30pm and will leave at 2.50pm. Following the church services (all begin at 3.30pm) the parade should return to the park by 5.15pm.

Centenary Celebrations

final payments for this camp need to be paid to our District Chairman, Peter Dawson by Good Friday, 6th April at the latest.

Scouting Display in Mossley Mill

by the time you read this the display should be in place and my thanks in advance to everyone who has contributed in any way, large or small. The event will be opened officially on Tuesday, 17th April by our District President, Mr Harry McClintock, with each Group in our District being represented. Make sure that you let all parents and young people know that it is on to give them an opportunity to visit it at some time during April.
