It was good to get feedback from the 21st World Scout Jamboree during the summer in the form of a presentation by three of the five District participants who came to the Leaders’ meeting. They gave us a flavour of what it was all about and judging by their enthusiasm they had a really good time.
As I mentioned at the Leaders’ meeting I have been received more requests for information about Scout groups in our District these past few months than I had received in the previous two years. The publicity surrounding the Centenary and our own contribution to this have undoubtedly led to a higher public awareness of who we are and what we can offer young people. Clearly advertising works so make sure all groups take the chance to show the public what we get up to in our local areas. The local newspapers are always willing to receive pictures and articles. If you need any contact names for the local press let me know.

Leader's Social Event
7.30pm, Saturday, 20th October – Ten-pin bowling. Charlie Moore has provisionally booked 10 lanes (6 people per lane) for 1 hour for a District Leaders’ ten-pin bowling evening in Glengormley Superbowl. We are also proposing that when the fun part is over we move on to a local restaurant for some serious dining. I have approached the Little Sicily restaurant on the Antrim Road (opposite KFC) and they can cater for us if they know far enough in advance. Charlie also needs to know numbers for this event to confirm how many lanes we need. With this in mind can you please get back to Charlie (Tel. 93322027) to confirm how many are going by Friday, 6th October. It will be possible to attend one or other or both but we need to know as soon as possible.
