Centenary Celebrations
District Leaders’ BBQ and Quiz – this was held on Saturday, 16th June in Ballyclare Rugby Football Club and was a great success with 60 leaders and friends attending. The weather was kind to us, especially Ian Finlay who supervised the cooking of the steaks, etc. I think everyone welcomed the chance to have a relaxing evening and enjoy the competition of the quiz. We may well consider making this an annual event if there is enough interest. My thanks to everyone who assisted in any way to make the evening such a success.
Crawfordsburn Garden Party
– I hope everyone from our District who attended this event enjoyed the experience. It isn’t everyday we get the chance to rub shoulders with royalty or our local politicians. It was a glorious day weather-wise and there was a great atmosphere enjoyed by all.

Slemish Sunrise
– A number of Explorer Scouts reached the top of Slemish at about 3.00am on the morning of 1st August. A few others, including myself, arrived at 4.45am and it was looking good for a bright morning until just before dawn when the cloud moved in and the rain started but it couldn’t dampen our spirits. At 5.15am we renewed our promise as planned in the mist and rain and then headed home for an early breakfast before going to Carrickfergus. Thanks to Barry Preston for organizing this.
Scouting Sunrise
– this event was very well attended considering the time and day of the week. Well done to everyone who came and braved the cold and damp morning. It was good to see every group represented with many former scouts and leaders there too.
